When a Severe Storm pattern hit New England, are you and your family prepared and ready for what could potentially happen? Severe weather like hurricanes and tropical storm fronts can come in many different forms that can include tornadoes, high winds, and flooding. It's never too late to prepare and stock up on essentials that can be needed in an emergency.
SERVPRO of Beverly/ Cape Ann has a helpful suggested list of items to keep you prepared before a storm hits:
- Have a backpack for each family member in your home with a couple of outfits, personal hygiene items, extra masks, and prescription medications, in case you need to leave quickly.
- Make sure to fill up your gas tank before any storm, just in case.
- Stock up on enough drinking water and non-perishable food for you and your family.
- Stock up on flashlights, masks, batteries, and blankets.
- Make sure to close all your storm windows and shutters in your home.
- Charge all cell phones, tablets, laptops in case you lose power.
- Have activities for your children: coloring books, crayons, markers, board games, playing cards, etc.
- Invest in a portable power station to help keep devices and phones charged.
